As I was driving down a street on Saturday, I noticed a man and woman sitting on their front porch, enjoying the sun. One was drinking alcohol and one was smoking a cigarette. Nicotine and alcohol are both proven to sedate the nervous system, tranquilizing it, making it numb, making sure the nervous system doesn’t come into full contact with its’ reality. The question always is…. “what is it about reality that makes so many people want nothing to do with it?”
You would think that having a couple days off to explore your true calling, to express your creative talents and maybe to create a legacy to be remembered by (once you pass away) would motivate people to take action on making some big changes in their lives. But we don’t see that,do we? We see most people almost dreading the time away from the jobs they don’t like and that’s because when we’re away from what we don’t like doing, our soul will always take the time to turn up the volume and let us know that we’re on the wrong path. And that folks is what the alcohol, drugs, junk food, narcotics, cigarettes. coffees, caffeine, sugar etc are really for. They’re the most convenient way many people have for telling their soul to “shut the F%&% up” and that “I don’t want to hear the messages you bring to me about my pain.” The saboteur sees pain as a goblin, something to be avoided but the wisest know pain is a guardian…..that it’s always there to say “change you fool, before it’s too late.” So instead of answering their true calling or forging a partnership with their soul (their internal and cosmic GPS), they sit there smoking and drinking and eating crap and doing drugs and watching a screen and rotting and staying stuck in their stuckness……..trying to stay numb until Monday where the hustle and bustle of their slavery will always drown out the quiet whispers of their souls.
Anyone who works at a circus will tell you that in order to train an elephant, you need to chain it to a large concrete pillar for at least the first 4 months of its’ life. The baby elephant will struggle for months at a time, as it attempts to free itself from its’ slavery. After 4 months you can take the chain off and the elephant won’t move an inch, even though there’s nothing holding it back. Are you ready to give up? Are you OK with the cycle of working a job you don’t like, living a life that’s unsatisfying and then using your free time to sedate to your painful reality? If not, come see me talk live in November regarding my BRAND NEW workshop on overcoming self sabotage and living a better life. Private message me your e-mail address for more information. Power to the people.
