Why Average and Mediocre Feel Great

When we self sabotage it’s easy to identify the negative self talk as it comes into our mind. The key to overcoming negative self talk is to simply pick 1-2 key phrases that work for you, in order to reprogram the TONE of your inner conversations, which you have with yourself. If I see myself taking some steps backwards regarding my goals, my phrase is “KEEP RISING”. I say this to myself because self sabotage is a subconscious fear of becoming our best. Although the fear of rising up above others comes with certain consequences, like potentially offending people who don’t want to become their best, you simply keep on rising anyway………because you’ve decided that you deserve nothing less in your life.

The hardest self sabotaging inner dialogue to identify is the “you deserve it” sneaky saboteur. That’s the part of us that congratulates us for working so hard and tries to convince us that we really need to sit back and chill, watch some TV, have a glass of wine, relax a little longer, spend some of the money, and enjoy life a bit more. “You deserve it!” yells that voice but what that voice really means is “don’t change, I’m scared, stay where you are, we’re safe here but we may not be safe over there, average is our home, mediocre is all we know, stop improving SO FAST!” The subconscious knows we react better to positive signaling and it knows how to trick us at times, in order that we don’t rise up and face the fear that always comes when we want to become MORE, compared to others in the tribe. Two words………KEEP RISING!
