The TV was invented to destroy knowledge and bring the trauma of the public square execution into the living room. Each violent and traumatizing act witnessed on TV or in film changes the wiring of the mind so it can never mature, evolve or expand. The ruling 1% historically had to organize a public beheading during the French Revolution or human sacrifice at the Aztec pyramid etc to gain such an effect for controlling the minds of the population. Such endeavors were costly, time consuming, dangerous and had limited reach. Now, people wait in line, spend their own money, traumatize themselves with violent images and have their children in tow.
