The problem with most religion is that it allows a group to do, what an individual would be institutionalized for. Most humans don’t want to explore the motivations of their own behaviors and throughout history this has been accelerated to a degree where some humans will even invent invisible entities to outsource their behavior to, because if they realized that it was them just acting this insane, it would be too mentally painful to deal with. The entire founding doctrine is “it’s not really insane if religion is involved”……and this really benefits people who don’t want to take any personal responsibility for anything in their own lives.

“I’m a sinner so I naturally do bad things” and “God is in control at all times so I’m just going to avoid personal responsibility for my own behavior and my own decisions.” This sort of out sourcing doctrine acts as a bright beacon for anyone else who also doesn’t want to hold a mirror up to their personal behavior. Like moths to a flame, the weak souls (who want no judgement) come yelling “sign me up!” All religion isn’t this crazy but my personal observations have always steered me away from religion, not because I don’t like it, but because I generally don’t like any collective group that sells collectivism over personal responsibility and individual freedom. Most groups do this, wanting to take over the thought processes of the followers. If you cherish your own self-hood and personal sovereignty, you will find no interest in any collective group. The more fear injected into you, the more you will cling to the herd and allow the herd to control your mind, in return for the perceived safety that the herd can offer. In the end, no exchange is worth your personal sovereignty and the control of your own thoughts.
