When you lose weight, you often lose more than some numbers on the scale. You can lose your unhealthy friends. You can lose your victim-hood. You can lose your charity events, where they celebrate your sickness. You can lose your reputation as someone who always struggles in life. You can lose your child ego. You can lose your normal introduction where you tell the people you meet what disease you have. You can lose your addictions. You can lose your unhealthy rituals on Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, long weekends etc. You can lose your sedation, tranquilization and your distractions to reality. You might even lose your mate….who loves staying unhealthy, overweight, depressed, dis-empowered, dis-oriented, addicted, sedated and medicated. You can lose your connection with the old you, the old crowd, the old excuses, the stagnation and the security of knowing that it’s simply easier to stay stuck. When we lose weight, we often sabotage our journey because we realize how many other things we’re going to lose by becoming healthy, wealthy and wise.
This is why most people really get excited about the initial thought of losing weight and becoming healthier……..but quickly recoil back into their “stuckness” and let their dreams pass them by……..because you lose lots more, when you lose weight. When you lose weight, you often lose your old existence along with it, and it’s that massive change that most people can’t handle too well. It’s just easier to stay mediocre, helpless, dependent and living inside the dysfunctional herd where no one expects too much from you and where you don’t stand out too much. There is hope and there are solution to overcoming self sabotage. There are many psychological factors that must be addressed in order for the next weight loss journey to be your last and I address all those in my Overcoming Self Sabotage Workshop coming up in November. If you want to come live or want access to the recorded video of the live event, just private message me. Have a great weekend.
