The best way to lose weight is to prepare properly before you ever start. First, you need to be able to look at your habits and place them into categories. You need to see everything you do in terms of loving (and respecting your body) or disrespecting yourself (and attacking your body). This isn’t taught in school but it’s very important if you want your weight loss journey to be a success.
For example, is skipping meals about loving yourself or disrespecting yourself? That one is easy. Skipping meals is about placing your body last on the priority list and treating yourself badly. The body needs food at regular intervals to repair itself and to be healthy. Starving yourself = hurting yourself. What about exercise? Do you exercise at all……….. because not exercising falls into the category of treating yourself badly but oddly enough so does over exercising. If you sit on the couch all day that’s bad but if you run 8 miles a night and literally flog yourself using exercise, that’s bad too. The way someone does one thing is the way they do everything, so most people are usually on one side of the fence or the other. They usually don’t see a work addiction the same way as chronic unemployed or not exercising at all in the same light as running back to back marathons………..but trust me……….both sides equally reflect a lack of respect for self and more importantly, a disrespect for balance in one’s life. Our body reflects our balance in life. A life out of balance results in a body out of balance.
Look at your food choices, your food quantities, the job you have, the romantic mates you choose, your hours of sleep, the sort of media you expose yourself to, the music you listen to, the quality of what you eat or place on your skin etc. Rank everything you do into negative or positive, tearing down or allowing to repair, spending or saving, hate or love, attack or compassion, over extending or at peace with what you have, doing or being, conflict or acceptance etc etc. Basically it all comes down to what I first said. All actions can be grouped into a respect for self or a disrespect/attack on self.
The more attack on self, the higher the weight and the more disease. The greater the imbalance between respect and disrespect of our human condition, the greater the weight and the more disease. If a person loses weight, without addressing why they look at themselves as the enemy, they will end up being a thinner person who’s just biting at the bit to start attacking themselves again. This looks like yo-yo dieting but yo-yo dieting is a symptom of something much deeper. What that really means is that a person who was taught to hurt themselves can only hang on so long treating themselves with respect before their default programming clicks back on.
