Although ingesting marijuana can provide key health benefits with certain metabolic dysfunctions, smoking marijuana is extremely unhealthy simply because the act of incinerating any carbon based compound produces toxic end products, adverse to all life. Marijuana can also lead to addiction, which in turn is directly correlated to depression……but it’s not only marijuana that can trigger this adverse effect in the body.
Although the body does have cannabinoid receptors throughout its’ tissues, the body itself produces its’ own cannabinoid compounds, which are designed to increase reward pathway activation when something beneficial is experienced by the person, like experiencing a deeper satisfaction in life. For example, learning a new skill or finishing a big project that took plenty of planning and effort. When the body achieves something successful and meaningful, it releases natural cannabinoid compounds to reinforce and reward such great achievements in life. That’s what the cannabinoid receptors are there for in the body.
By artificially flooding the body’s reward pathways with exogenous cannabinoid compounds from marijuana, it excites our reward pathways absent of any great life achievements accomplished. It’s important to note as well that sugar, caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, opioids etc…..all produce a similar “fake achievement” effect in the nervous system……literally setting the stage for the person running east looking for a sunset. Fake feel good emotional and nervous system activation distorts our natural GPS, based on internally generated reward and pleasure chemicals. Your natural cannabinoid system is supposed to “light up” (by natural design) when your perfect mate walks by, so you bond with and chase your perfect mate. It’s not supposed to “light up” when you’re playing video games, so you bond to the video games and the cheezies. (after smoking a big fat joint) The mere act of activating CBD pathways artificially means our body becomes conditioned to seek smoking or ingesting marijuana for the reward pathway activation alone, absent of moving forward successfully in our life. This means the addiction can take over, as opposed to the ongoing pursuit of meaningful life achievement…..as the body designed the system to accomplish. All addiction is proven to lead to depression. It’s simply best to allow the natural design of the body to lead the way, instead of flooding its’ happiness and reward systems unnaturally with exogenous excitatory and pain killing compounds. Unless a person can quit something for 6 weeks (without any issues), they are most likely addicted to that item or behavior due to this reward pathway activation.
