Self Sabotage – Why Do Humans Do Stupid Things and How To Reverse It?

As a self sabotage coach, you have a very fine line to walk with your clients. You first have to explain to them very gently that humans aren’t logical or rational creatures…..knowing that the better you prove your point, the more the illogical and irrational human will insist you’re wrong. For example, does taking toxic medical drugs sound like a rational or logical way to attain better health? Of course not. Poison can’t make you better. Poison doesn’t work like that. If you take the entire bottle of medication, you will die but if you take two pills per day, magically it makes you better. Does that seem logical to you? Of course not…….but how many are doing it? Does circumcising an infant male, proven to generate enough pain to damage the brain…….sound like something a caring or “good” parent would do? Of course not. So why are humans this illogical, irrational and clinical insane regarding some pretty big decisions in their lives? That answer soon enough. Does working a job you hate, in order to buy things you don’t need, sound like an optimal way to spend what little time you have here on this planet? Of course not. Again, the better you are (as a self sabotage coach) at explaining your client’s irrational and illogical behavior…..the more resistant an irrational and illogical person is to the idea that their decisions and behaviors are based on emotional impulses rather than a long drawn out thought process.

When you’re a self sabotage coach, you’re job is to make sure your clients understand that making decisions based on “emotion” (and not logic or rational thought) is how the vast majority of people work their way through life. The less logic and rational thought you apply to your decisions, the more you’ll self sabotage everything you do and focus on. Is smoking cigarettes logical or rational? Does drinking any amount of alcohol reflect rational analysis or deep thought, given alcohol is proven to destroy health and shorten lifespan in any amount? Does it make sense for a smoker to be upset on their death bed, when they always knew that smoking would kill them much earlier than not smoking? So why do humans do stupid things that make no sense and things that are absent of any sort of intelligent reflection? Again the answer is……the natural human is proven to make decisions based on emotion, emotional connection, safety, security, group bonding and energy harvesting.

If smoking makes you bond with the dysfunctional herd….you smoke. If circumcising your son helps you gain better emotional connection with your parents…..you do it. If the car you can’t afford gives you a big emotional charge, you buy it anyway. Did you vaccinate your kids not knowing exactly what you were injecting? Of course you did…….like most everyone else because it helps the average Joe gain energy connection and bonding with the herd. If that new person at work looks pretty, most start flirting in short order…..even though most are married and vowed in front of all their friends they would never do that. (on their wedding day) See, the first step involved with moving past self sabotage is coming to grips with how clinically insane you behave, most of the time……and how easy it would be to change, if you just started to make this simple yet frightening realization. Understanding how humans are naturally wired to behave, act and think is what can help someone stop self sabotaging and push through into a better way of living. If you’re ready to live a better life, which involves making more rational and logical decisions, please feel free to private message me for an information package regarding my Overcoming Self Sabotage Workshop coming up in November.
