Self Sabotage, Smoking and Making Peace With Your Inner Saboteur

Smoking is a decision by which a person willingly kills themselves prematurely, while also being aware that they don’t want to die in a painful and premature way. This is classic self sabotage, the fine art of being unable to live the life you want because you’re too busy living the life you don’t want. Self sabotage involves a perpetual tug of war inside the mind….like the lady who exercises around the clock but drinks wine most every night, the smoker who jogs trying to keep their lungs healthy, the person in debt who keeps spending, the married person who keeps searching for the affair etc etc.

Self sabotage is about digging a hole and then filling the hole, digging a hole and filling the hole……….which means you’re really busy but you don’t get anywhere. Your agenda is full, you come home exhausted, you’re moving and grooving………BUT NOTHING EVER CHANGES because the self sabotage cycle is about a dance of futility happening inside the mind. One step forward, one step back, one step forward, one step back. One more hour on the treadmill, one more glass of wine or row of cookies. One more shift at work, one more new mindless purchase. Overcoming self sabotage is about rearranging the mind so you take one side or the other……..either dig the hole OR fill it……AND BE DONE WITH IT. My agenda is currently full coaching people out of self sabotage (via Skype for long distance clients) but if you would like to PM me your e-mail address, I can put you on my e-mail list for future contact regarding potential openings. If you’re tired of digging the hole and then filling it……drop me a line.
