Self sabotage is always about seeking failure and then out sourcing the blame for that failure to others or anything external of self. Self sabotage is about being so afraid of changing, that change is purposely thwarted at every turn, by BUILDING a lifestyle of perpetual crisis. Self sabotage also involves being unaware and completely oblivious to the fact that this cycle is running inside the person’s mental hard drive.
For example people who are afraid to change often join discount fitness clubs, where unhealthy items like pizza and bagels are served at the beginning of every month. Planet Fitness being the most popular. The self saboteur is always putting out “effort” and has a very busy schedule but they only seek and are attracted to the failure based options. Romantic partners that are carbon copies of their last failure based “abusive” relationship, is another common example. That person often asks, “what are the chances I date another abusive, addicted infantile ding dong?” Well, the chances are pretty good if you don’t understand that a saboteur literally seeks failure, stagnation and attention through never ending crisis. A self saboteur also often picks friends that are at the same health level as them (or worse in most cases) because that way, it’s easier to avoid changing to fit into the group. To the saboteur, change of any kind is the enemy.
Going to the doctor and insisting on taking toxic medications that keeps the person sick, seeking employment situations that are guaranteed to make the person miserable, smoking, eating junk food, drinking every week, spending money they don’t have, gossiping, living day to day with very little care for the long term future……….the saboteur is dedicated 100% to the full time job of staying the same, living in perpetual crisis and being broken……simply because being broken and helpless is how they’re used to extracting energy from their environment and the people around them. The easiest way a person can harvest energy in this society is to fall down, start crying and grab their knee in pain. The sick get all the attention in our society, the healthy aren’t even noticed. The subconscious mind of the saboteur figured all this out a long time ago and can’t resist the temptation to play its’ role in the dysfunctional cycle. The saboteur knows that there’s safety, security and extra attention to be found inside playing the helpless victim. Children do this all the time of course to get attention but lots of adults do this as well, never growing out of this youthful way of collecting attention, energy and concern. Self sabotage has many psychological underpinnings. Thinking and behaving as a helpless infant (as a way to gain attention) is just one of them. There are many more. I’m providing one live event this year regarding overcoming self sabotage and living your best life.
