Plenty of self sabotage has to do with the first idea that entered your head, regarding a particular belief system. Let’s take an extreme example, like the US landing on the moon with the first maned space craft. You, like most others, believe this is true simply because of various structures involved with how beliefs operate within the human pscyhe……..authority based declarations, positive re-enforcements for repeating what you’re told, your psyche’s constant need to feel safe and secure regarding how your world works, the need to fit in with the herd etc etc. There’s a “structure” to making someone “believe things” and that structure unfortunately can be hijacked to make humans drive their life bus right into the ditch.
Lets face it, the first idea to enter your mind regarding the moon landing is “we went to the moon”….and that’s OK. That’s my first belief as well. But watch how your mind behaves when you see concrete and logical evidence that we didn’t go to the moon and that once again (as usual)……..your government and the media are lying to you. Let’s even leave out why someone would lie about something like that. (even though I have some sound guesses) In the end, the point is……are you strong enough to watch the ping pong game in your own head, regarding how you’ll cling as hard as you can to the first idea that entered your mind, for no other reason that it was the first idea into your brain. It’s just a fun exercise to see if you can self analyze your own beliefs, without having a full mental breakdown. The reason why this is important is because plenty of self sabotaging behavior is tied to believing lies, even though those lies never serve us what so ever. Simply press play and analyze what occurs in your own head.
