It’s proven coffee provides “pleasure” to the nervous system……..and so does shopping, watching TV, drinking alcohol, smoking, doing drugs, eating junk food, eating fast food, riding porn, scrolling Facebook, scrolling Instagram etc etc. Our society is engulfed in “pleasure” based activities, which in turn are driven by the internal chemical “dopamine.” What’s just been discovered is that “pleasure” is PROVEN the opposite of happiness and that the more pleasure you have in your life (the more dopamine), the less happy you can be. Pleasure makes you unhappy, miserable and depressed.
I know a lady who watches TV every night and she’s not happy. She doesn’t know why but watching TV destroys happiness. She has gotten pleasure and happiness mixed up. She thinks pleasure is happiness but pleasure is really unhappiness. So she’s unhappy, which doesn’t feel good. She then goes to the mall, trying to buy back her happiness but again she has everything backwards..as is the design of our system. Our perpetual misery is the business model of the people who rule us. The aim is to keep us as unhappy as possible and then trick us into trying to buy back what we’re missing…..and then when we do that, we only find more depression, which in turn drives us farther into emotional and physical decay. Shopping for the latest fashions at the mall drives more pleasure into her system. That only makes her more depressed. Once again, the cycle ends with less happiness. She then drinks some wine after work with friends, which is only proven to make her more unhappy. In the end she’s miserable yet she still straps a big fake smile across her face because that’s what the society has told her to do….be miserable, keep smiling, fake your happiness. Eventually she starts to think that maybe her marriage or job is the problem in her life, so she starts taking her behavior cues from inverted Hollywood media (since she’s watching it nightly anyway) and she starts considering an affair……..because that’s what Hollywood says everyone must do to be happy but again an affair only brings pleasure, which only makes us more miserable. In the end she becomes overweight from pleasure based junk foods, bankrupt from pleasure based shopping, diseased from pleasure based alcohol, divorced from her pleasure based affair and erratic from her pleasure based coffee. And that’s what happens folks inside a society that doesn’t teach you the difference between pleasure and happiness. You’re being hunted. Awaken or perish.

It’s amazing what our thoughts tell us to do in order to achieve pleasure. Causing pain instead of the joy we seek. What a change we could make if we could learn to discard the thoughts that trap us in depressive patterns. To restructure our thoughts would surely be the key.
