The last article was dedicated entirely to discussing the idea of health myths, their detriment and the key players involved who profit from and perpetuate such myths.
I also briefly hit on the enormity of the problem in regards to dismantling these myths, as a good portion of the Canadian population are employed and well paid to service or move these myths farther down the throats of the Canadian public. (who are literally choking to death on these myths already)
Today it appears we’ve allowed science to morph into our newest religion, where blind faith is THE compulsory requirement. People who speak against the great men of science are often segregated, attacked and ostracized.
Most of the myths I will review are woven deeper into our societal fabric simply because a scientist in a lab, a medical journal or a drug company states that what’s not working is indeed the truth despite massive evidence to the contrary. We don’t follow rules anymore because they make sense and produce the results we want. We follow rules because we’ve been conditioning to receive information and not to process if said information is true or not. We are taught what to think and not how to think.
You will always have two sides to every story so how do you know what the real truth is? It’s easy. You open your eyes and look at the results in an unbiased manner. Today it’s the unbiased part that Canadians in the positions of power are having a hard time with because the companies who profit from the myths, tip the playing fields in their favour using the age old incentive of “money”. The primary problem with this antiquated business model is that the people getting rich, off making their fellow country men (and women) sick, are also getting sick themselves. So if everyone’s dead, that’s bad and everyone loses. Lets’ review some of the myths which have millions of Canadians running east looking for a sunset
Let’s start with the Canadian Food Guide. Dr. Yoni Freedhoff of Ottawa has declared the Canadian Good Guide obeseogenic. I myself have been shouting this from the roof tops for nearly a decade and if you work with me personally, you are discouraged from eating the majority of the food mentioned in the guide. What obesogenic means is that if you eat according to this guide, you will end up being obese and since this Guide has been advertised coast to coast, this is exactly the trend we’ve observed.
We also have the Food Guide not mentioning the weight gaining and disease causing effects of pesticides/herbicides/fungicides and rodenticides common on non-organic foods, genetically modified foods, pasteurization, irradiation, excess carbohydrate consumption etc.
We also see the Food Guide completely ignore and keep the general public in the dark regarding the weight gaining and disease causing affects of being potentially allergic to wheat products (allergies to gluten), milk, corn and soy. Food allergies have been shown to lower IQ and pack on the pounds, just to name a few.
For example in Dr. Mark Hyman’s ground breaking health classic, Ultra Metabolism, he reviews the results of a study comparing students fed oatmeal and students fed an omelette for breakfast. The students fed oatmeal showed smaller attention spans, lower IQ’s, hyperactivity, increases in appetite and larger consumption of junk food later in the day compared to the children fed omelettes. The negative effects of the oatmeal could be potentially caused by the pesticides common on non-organic crops, gluten allergies or a potential rapid rise in blood sugar that breakfasts high in carbohydrates can cause. Ever hear of any of this? Of course you haven’t.
Want to know what the real truth is? Change how you eat. It’s that simple. Contact me on Facebook for a healthy eating guide. Eat 6-8 weeks according to that guide and then go back to the way you used to eat or eat according to the food guide. After that, you can decide for yourself. It’s only food, it’s not illegal for you to change the way you eat and you really don’t need people telling you what to eat in the first place…especially if research demonstrates that the whole truth is filtered in order to send you in one direction or the other.
Next week, I continue reviewing common health myths.
