Self sabotage is based on programs running in our subconscious mind, which we primarily installed during our first 7 years of life. There programs revolve around safety and security concerns..regarding what we need to do in order to fit into our immediate family tribe. The more repetitive the message, action or idea….the more our subconscious repeats the program, regardless of consequence. For example, if your father often said, “we don’t have lots of money because of you kids”….that ends up installing a very different money/child love program than a father who said, “because of you kids, I need to make lots of money”. We’re programmed to mimic and download everything about our parents (and culture) so we fit in and do exactly what everyone else is doing. This works out OK except in situations where the parents were underachieving, addicted, messy, unhealthy, unorganized and exhibiting juvenile behavior patterns. At that point……those behaviors get set into our subconscious, to trap us in our worst lives, even though our conscious minds can’t stand the pain of constantly living out these illogical behaviors.
