Last night at the NHL Awards ceremony there was a great moment where Montreal Canadians goaltender Carey Price surprised a young boy on stage. The young boy’s mother had died of cancer at the age of 44 and the boy had met Carey Price this March as well. It was a great moment where the boy was provided some positive energy, which can change a person’s life for the better when they’re lost and looking for a reason to move forward in life.

I talk about this topic often. We need to get more involved and interested as a society in what’s causing the cancer in the adults, as well as the children. Cell phones, unhealthy diets and vaccinations really do top the list of common cancer causing attacks…….but very few want to look into the research because taking pictures with the sick and dying gets so much more spotlight, celebration and promotion in our society. Many people just don’t have the courage to look in the mirror at the gross injustices we’re all involved with during our lifetimes, so it’s just easier to go for the lowest hanging fruit……which is often these heart pulling stories and picture opportunities that our inverted media provides for anyone who wants to look the other way. We love to think of ourselves as great human beings but if we’re so great why the constant invention of things that are proven to make us sick and why the constant denial of our fatalistic ways? That is why we want to keep celebrating instead of investigating because when we do look in the mirror, we’re really afraid of the monsters staring back at us.
