I’m at a swim meet where one swimmer set a world record for 13 year olds but she’s only 12….and they don’t start record keeping until 13. The parents next to me had talked to the mother of this child phenom and the mother said “my daughter was actually going to quit swimming because all the other swimmers ignore her and are hard on her for being so much faster than everyone else.” And there you have it folks…..the invisible pressure to be average, mediocre and to underacheive in order to please the larger group who are less capable than yourself. When you decide to become better (thinner, healthier, wealthier, stronger etc)…..remember two things. The people who don’t get it will attack you and you KEEP RISING ANYWAY.
