The Need to Connect With Others

One psychological constant of human behavior is that humans need to “connect’ with other humans, in order to satisfy their genetic requirement for safety and security. Unfortunately inside an ultra Liberal based culture like our own, there’s an excessive amount of care, compassion and charity heaped toward people who are sick, dysfunctional and dis-empowered.

This looks like a great idea, to provide this level of care to the downtrodden, but historical reflections by many great scholars conclude that such societal structures (that involve excessive attention toward the sick and dependent, while ignoring the healthy and independent) sets up a type of “irresistible emotional bait” for people to gain maximum attention and connection through perpetual victim-hood. Many self saboteurs are reacting to this well baited trap of perpetual victim-hood in regards to their need to connect to other humans…. through constant chaos, crisis and disaster. There are psychological reasons why humans connect through disaster and there are psychology based solutions for overcoming our addictions, unhealthy behaviors and our involvement in beliefs that keep us average, small and mediocre.
